Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Inaugural Ceremony
February 12, 2008

Hodgeville, Kentucky

Hodgenville

Officially established in 1818, Hodgenville sits in the heartland of LaRue County, Kentucky, with a population just over 3,000. A rural and outdoor oriented community, Hodgenville is located at the North Fork of the Nolan River. The town takes pride in it’s friendly citizens, beautiful countryside and, of course, as the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln.

Each fall, Hodgenville celebrates the 16th president with Lincoln Days. Beginning the first weekend of each October, the festival features Lincoln look-a-like contests, rail splitting competitions, a Saturday parade, and live performances by local talent.

Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site

Situated on 116 acres of the original in Sinking Spring Farm, the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site focuses on Lincoln's life in Kentucky. Conceived by the Lincoln Farm Association, the park portrays Lincoln’s humble beginnings with a symbolic birth cabin enshrined in a neo-classic Memorial Building.
