Tim Townsend is the historian at Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Springfield, Illinois. He earned his BA degree in history from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, and holds a Master of Arts degree in history from the University of Illinois at Springfield. Tim has worked on the curatorial staff at the Rock Island Arsenal Museum and has been an interpreter at the U.S. Grant Home, the Vachel Lindsay Home, and the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices. Tim also assisted with field archeology and research for the Springfield archeological firm of Fever River Research. Tim began his career with the National Park Service as a Lincoln Home Park Ranger in 1991.
