Martin E. Marty is the Fairfax M. Cone Distinguished Service Professor emeritue at the University of Chicago, where he taught American religious history in the Divinity School, the History Department and the (Humanities) Committee on the History of Culture. The author of over fifty books and winner of the National Book Award and the National Humanities Medal, he has made several addresses on aspects of Abraham Lincoln and religious themes in American history.
