Hello,
I wanted to share some photos from our wonderful Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration held on Thursday Feb. 12th.
As a Lincoln enthusiast, I felt passionate about sharing my knowledge of Lincoln and therefore invited our homeschool community to celebrate with us. I reserved a room at a local library and we had about 15 (maybe more) families join us. I planned lots of fun and educational activities to cover a range of ages. The younger kids colored and built Lincoln Log cabins, and for the older set there were word searches and crossword puzzles and more. We made stovepipe hats, played a Lincoln Trivia game, participated in presentations, and put on display our Lincoln-themed projects, such as poster boards, etc. I used Mary Todd Lincoln's recipes for Mr. Lincoln's favorite Vanilla-Almond cake and Gingerbread cookies. It was a great day, all the kids were very excited and really involved. My children (6 & 4) loved it!
Thank you for t! he posters, I incorporated them into my teaching this past week (which I called "Lincoln week" because we studied Lincoln every day leading up to his birthday) and I also displayed them at the library for others to enjoy as well.
I picked the *photos that best showed our passion and interest. I hope you enjoy them!
