Lincoln Bicentennial Week at PSU The PSU Friends of History is presenting a full week of events starting February 9th to help kick off a state-wide celebration of the Bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln's birthday. All events are taking place in the PSU HIstory Department in Cramer Hall (1721 SW Broadway) unless otherwise noted and are free and open to the PSU community and the public. Monday, February 9: Readathon of Books on Abraham Lincoln. 7:00pm Cramer Hall Rm447 Tuesday,February 10: Lincoln Movie Night. Showing of the acclaimed three hour miniseries "Lincoln" starring Sam Waterson as Lincoln and Mary Tyler Moore as Mary Todd Lincoln. Popcorn and refreshments will be served and there will be a 20 minute intermission. Movie starts at 5PM. Cramer Hall Room 494. Wednesday, February 11: Keynote Speech, February 2009 meeting of Civil War Round Table: "Lincoln, His Cabinet and Generals: the Early Conflicts" Retired Whitman College History Professor Tom Edwards will examine the relationship our 16th President had with his Cabinet members and with Generals McClellan. Meade and Grant in this special Bicentennial eve lecture. The CWRT is an affiliate of the PSU Friends of History. Program starts at 7:30pm. Cramer Hall Room 494 Thursday, February 12: Candlelight Vigil and short walk to the George Waters Fite Lincoln Statue in the South Park Block to commemorate the birth of Abraham Lincoln. Meet at the PSU History Department lounge at 5:50pm. Cramer Hall 441 Friday, February 13: Lincoln Movie Night: Screening of 1938 "Young Mr. Lincoln" starring Henry Fonda. Location: Cramer Hall 494 starting at 6:00pm The Friends of History is presenting this Lincoln Birthday Bicentennial Week as part of the events planned with the Oregon Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
