Rise Up and Hear:  An Evening of Poetry Honoring Abraham Lincoln's Legacy

Many know Lincoln for his speeches.  Few know that he was also a poet.  In recognition of Lincoln the poet, and in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts and Poetry Foundation, the ALBC presents an evening of poetry and music inspired by Lincoln's love for the art.  Featuring a variety of well-known poets and actors, the program will include readings of contemporary and classic poems inspired by Lincoln and his legacy of freedom, democracy and equality.  Special guests include Actors Joan Allen and Sam Waterston.  Dana Gioia, poet and Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts will lead the evening festivities.

Seating is limited and reservations are recommended.  RSVP to lincoln@arts.endow.gov and provide your name, organization, phone number and number of attendees.

This event is free and open to the public.  Request ADA accommodations five days in advance at lincoln@arts.endow.gov.
