Weekend at ASA Waters Mansion

Friends of the Asa Waters Mansion have commissioned James E. Getty, the country’s premier interpreter of Abraham Lincoln and Harold Holzer, leading Lincoln Biographer and Co-Chair of the US Lincoln Bicentennial Commission to appear at the Asa Waters Mansion on Sat., May 16, and Sun., May 17, 2009.

Saturday’s program - Lincoln Bicentennial Concert in the Millbury Bandstand presented by the Providence Brigade Band.  Our special guest will be President Abraham Lincoln.

Sunday’s program - “Lincoln Seen and Heard”, a special live and audio/visual presentation by Mr. Getty and Mr. Holzer celebrating the life of Lincoln through the visual arts.

Both days include a Civil War Encampment, with President Lincoln addressing the troops of “Camp Lincoln” on the mansion grounds.

Visitors will learn "first hand” of the life and times of Abraham Lincoln, partake in the camp life of Civil War soldiers, and enjoy historical readings and music of the period. The weekend's activities will also include a Birthday Cake baking contest, and children’s “enlistments” (with camping and drilling) in "Civil War Regiments".

All events are open to the public.
