- The Hausenstein Center for Presidential Studies and MI ALBC co-sponsor Richard Norton Smith’s tour of Lincoln sites in Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana, November 7-14, 2008.
- January 17, 2009 the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra will perform the premier of a new classical music piece composed by Kenji Bunch. Celebrating Lincoln, the piece will also be performed by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
- January 29, 2009 – Donald T. Phillips author of Lincoln on Leadership will speak at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum. The lecture is sponsored by the Hausenstein Center for Presidential Studies at Grand Valley State University.
- Lincoln – Douglas Sesquicentennial Debate by Jim Getty and Tim Connors at Grand Valley State University – February 12, 2009.
- Face to Face Products, a professional theater troupe will present an historic play on the life of Lincoln for middle school students at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids , February 4-6, 2009.
- Bicentennial postmark and cachet envelop on February 12, 2009 at Lincoln, MI.
- A new book Lincoln in Michigan - published in the spring of 2009.
- A commissioned new Lincoln sculpture to be unveiled on the campus of Hillsdale College in April 2009.
- National Townhall meeting in April.
- The Lincoln Leadership Series sponsors a series of roundtables with members of the legislature throughout the year. The first topic: “What it means to be a statesman.”
- Lincoln Remembrance Trail in 2009
- Essay contest celebrating Lincoln and Michigan's National History Day.
