Connie was appointed by Governor Danaiels to Chair the Indiana Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission in 2006. She is also the Governor's liaison to the National Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission's Governor's Council. After 24 years in elected government offices she retired in 2006. She served two terms as Indiana Auditor of State, two terms as Mayor of Huntingburg, IN and two terms as a city councilor. She held various National offices and spoke throughout the Nation especially on leadership. While Mayor, she established a Partnership Sister City Charter with Bissendorf, Landkreis Osnabruk, Germany in 1989. Presently she serves as treasurer of the Welborn Foundation of Evansville, IN.
